MOORE UNI-DRILL

OVERSEEDING is the in word at the moment and with our MOORE UNI-DRILL you can bring those poor fields back to life. The MOORE UNI-DRILL low cost way of stitching new, high performance, grasses and clovers into a tired sward can transform a reseeding or enhancement programme with its speed of establishment.

Remember to check the pH (6.0 is ideal) P & K levels, keep an eye open for frit fly and leatherjackets and order some rain to ensure a quick germination and establishment.

Silage fields can be rejuvenated after first or second cut by cutting as low as possible and, when the field is cleared, immediately UNI-DRILLING a suitable seed mixture into the resultant stubble. Moisture is then not lost since the soil has not been moved and the new seeds can germinate and establish more quickly.

Grazing fields needing the rejuvenation treatment are treated differently. Graze the field down as tightly as possible and spray with Gramoxone at 1 pint/ac (1.4l/ha). Within 48 hours UNI-DRILL the new seeds mixture. The Gramoxone used at this low rate will not completely kill the existing grass sward but should delay its regrowth sufficiently to allow the new seeds to establish.

Fields which are weedy and have a very low useful plant population should be sprayed out with Glyphosate and then drilled with a suitable seed mixture. To ensure a better grass/clover cover, cross drilling at an angle is advisable.

The MOORE UNI-DRILL fits into Organic Farming Systems very well. One or two passes of the machine can sow a new ley, thus showing a considerable saving on energy over conventional reseeding. Wheat sown into a standing clover crop can achieve useful yields of good quality material for the silage pit. This one of many ways we can help take Organic Farming into the future.
